The comedian made highly inflammatory remarks about the Holocaust at the Electric Picnic music festival in Co Laois last month.
He later said his comments were not meant to be taken seriously, adding “the things that I said in front of a live audience were in an attempt to explain my belief that one of the duties of the comic performer is to be reckless and irresponsible and that the things that they say should NEVER [his emphasis] be taken out of context.”
According to the Just for Laughs spokeswoman Leisa Lee: "both the festival and Tiernan agreed that it was in everyone's best interest that he drop out of the coming national tour."
"He deeply regrets any hurt he has caused," she added.
