Well Fintan, now with Easter over, no doubt you are now trying to sort out the clerical appointments for the coming summer transfers, and perhaps you may wish to consider giving some leave to one of your priests.
This priest has been somewhat active on the gay app 'Grindr' for some time, and we were made aware of his behaviour a few weeks ago, which we investigated over that same period.
In that time, via different accounts, pictures and other identifying information was collected - all of which only served to validate the behaviour of this aforementioned priest.
Meetings were arranged, and despite one cancellation at short notice (ironically the night of the Chrism Mass) another was taken up on, and in the process, again confirmed the identity of your priest.
We are only too well aware of his sexual predilictions, his penchant for the younger male (within the legal age of course) and of course, it being safe sex.
With all of this evidence (and more) to hand, we obviously decided to make contact with the priest concerned in the last fortnight or so, and advised him that we were making him aware of our evidence, and that due to the fact we had been alerted to his behaviour, then it could become a matter of time before it became public knowledge - and not via ourselves.
We made it very clear to him that we had made a decision to advise him of the situation, and that he approach and advise you of all of what we have (and have not) mentioned - and let you both take the matter from there.
Needless to say the response from the priest was not one of gratitude, and even went so far as to accuse us here of blackmail no less - and we take grave exception to that allegation - irrespective of who accuses us of it, and one which we will be more than happy to take those who accuse us of it, up on it.
Your priest was advised that we would consider our next steps in this matter, and left communications open for him to revert to us - which he has not done.
And here we are now.....
....and where it goes from here is down to you and your priest.
We will be keeping an eye to this matter (amongst others) and update here as deemed necessary and appropriate.
