Thomas More College Releases Journal of Faith and Culture

This week, the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts released the latest issue of its flagship journal, Second Spring: an International Journal of Faith and Culture.

Entitled “The Praise of Glory,” the eleventh issue of Second Spring has a special focus on the Benedictine movement that saved and shaped Christian civilization in the Middle Ages.

Among a range of contributions, featured essays explore the Benedictine prayer of praise, what it means to sanctify time, and Benedictine hospitality.

“We are very proud of the latest issue,” said Stratford Caldecott, editor of Second Spring. “The monasteries were the seedbed of our civilization. As the Pope has emphasized, we can learn from them how to create a new Christian culture today, based on the search for God and the readiness to listen to him. The hope that springs from faith is as vibrant as it ever was.”

Readers may subscribe to Second Spring by visiting Thomas More College’s web site at www.ThomasMoreCollege.edu/Publications.

Founded and edited by Stratford and Leonie Caldecott, Second Spring’s mission is to explore and advance the mission of a Catholic intellectual in the context of contemporary culture.

Published twice per year, Second Spring is substantive, thought-provoking, topical, and orthodox. It takes its bearings from leading Catholic theologians such as Pope Benedict XVI in his lifelong writings, as well as Catholic thinkers such as John Henry Cardinal Newman and G.K. Chesterton.

Subjects regularly covered in Second Spring include the arts, sciences, technology, liturgy, new ecclesial movements, metaphysics, history, literature, poetry, and the world of books.

The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts is a four-year Catholic college that provides the rising generation with an education that forms them intellectually and spiritually within the Catholic intellectual tradition and with full fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
