This is stated in a statement posted on the website of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
"The Holy see has accepted the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI to visit Ukraine in 2012, and a concrete date is now being set," Archbishop Mechyslav Mokshytskyi is quoted as saying at the XXXV conference of Roman Catholic bishops of Ukraine.
According to him, the Lviv Archdiocese will commemorate the 600th anniversary of the transfer of the Episcopal capital from Halych to Lviv in 2012, when the Eucharist congress in Ukraine is also expected to end.
