Benedict XVI appointed Father Vincent Nguyen and Father William McGrattan as auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Toronto.Bishop-elect Nguyen, 43, is from the Toronto Archdiocese, while Bishop-elect McGrattan, 53, is from the Diocese of London, Ontario.
Vincent Nguyen was born in Vietnam in 1966, and came to Canada in 1984. He was ordained a priest in 1998.
Father Nguyen served in the archdiocese as vice-chancellor, and later chancellor, of spiritual affairs, and as moderator of the curia.
William McGrattan was born in London in 1956, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1987.
He has served at St. Peter's Seminary as a professor, dean of theology, vice rector, and later as rector.
The Archdiocese of Toronto has some 1.9 million Catholics of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Every week, Mass is celebrated in over 30 different languages.
There are some 800 priests and 110 permanent deacons, as well as 1,176 religious, serving the 225 parishes in the archdiocese.
