(When reading this particular piece, please understand that X@*X@*mas = Christmas)
Tis the season to be jolly etc etc but do not expect that to be what you hear on the proposed new advertisment for the Irish Bishops Conference owned bookshop and religious goods chain known as Veritas.
Last year, there was some ridiculous kerfuffle in relation to there being use of the word X@*X@*mas in advertisments and the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC) in their (very questionable) wisdom (nothing like the 3 wise men that for sure) decided that the word X@*X@*mas could no longer be referred to in adverts.
Now, lets inject a dose of reality here...it is the season, and in religious circles, ranks alongside Holy Week and Easter liturgically, but we have a Nazi-like State organisation telling us that freedom of religious expression is no longer going to be accepted or tolerated but give no practical reason why this shall be the case.
In an attempt to get around this ludicrous situation, Veritas have decided (at great expense let it be noted) to get an advert on the public airwaves which is going to sound like someone telling you to f*&% off.
Instead of using the word X@*X@*mas, on the radio, a 'bleep' which would normally be associated with bad language is now going to be used to indicate the first part of the word X@*X@*mas or Christ so it will be as follows - 'beep' mas gifts and books etc etc.
And much and all as Veritas may like to wish it to us all, let me advise you know when you hear them saying that they wish all a happy X@*X@*mas, truly and sincerely they are not telling us to have a happy f*&%mas!!
You have been warned!!
And the BCC need to catch themselves on!!
Thank GOD we here in CW are not under their greasy thumbs!!
But on another matter still pertinent to Veritas, let us just say that right now their own staff may well be close to needing the 'beep' due to the Scrooge-like behaviour of Veritas management at the moment about which we have become very aware since early this week.
Be assured we will comment further on this and give you the full update on this.....
