The Roman Catholic Diocese of London is offering to sell three Windsor, Ont., area churches -- all with historic designations -- for as little as $1 apiece.The diocese has offered two landmark churches for $1 to the town of Lakeshore, Ont., and a third church to Windsor for the same price.
The L'Annonciation and St. Joachim churches in Lakeshore and the Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Windsor have dominant locations in their communities, unique architectural features and history.
But hefty maintenance and repair bills that could run into the millions of dollars in the next few years could temper the buying fever for the former churches, even if they cost just $1 each.
