Pope Appoints New Bishop to Clogher, Ireland

On Thursday Pope Benedict XVI accepted the resignation of the following prelates: Bishop Joseph Duffy of the Diocese of Clogher Ireland, on having reached the age of retirement; Bishop Francis Florunsho Clement Alonge, of the diocese of Ondo, Nigeria, on having reached the age of retirement; bishop Francis Lagan, auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Derry, Northern Ireland, on having reached the age of retirement.

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Liam McDaid, bishop of the diocese of Clogher.

Mgr. McDaid was formerly the Chancellor of the Diocese of Clogher.
