The Catholic Church will not compensate the parents of a man murdered by a priest.
A judge has rejected a wrongful death suit filed by Carsten and Sally Ellison.
James Ellison, 22, and Jerry O'Connell, 39, were shot to death in 2002 at a Hudson, Wis. funeral home.
The shooter, Fr. Ryan Erickson, later committed suicide in 2004.
Ellison's parents claimed the Diocese of Superior should have known Erickson would kill someone, but a judge rejected that argument.
An investigation concluded that Erickson killed both men because he was afraid O'Connell had learned about molestation accusations against him and would tell his superiors in the church. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
