The Moscow Patriarchate deems it necessary to introduce prohibitive measures against alcohol promotion."Not a single country worldwide has so much low quality alcohol beyond any control available on every street corner," Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the Head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for Relations between the Church and Society, said at a meeting in the office of the Ural federal region administration in Yekaterinburg.
According to him, to fight alcoholism, it is necessary to "curb beer promotion which has brainwashed people 27-7 until recently, and now it has been somewhat reduced."
"Unfortunately, irrational behavior is common to our society. When a happy person drinking beer is shown on TV, people think that they need the same," Vsevolod Chaplin said.
He noted that they had to "meet a two-way challenge" in the war on alcoholism. "People should not be solicited for alcohol on every street corner, and they should be provided with a meaningful alternative," Father Vsevolod highlighted.
According to him, "when people feel no emptiness and desolation in life, there will be no urge to drink it away."
