Sex abuse at Catholic school

The Education Minister is being asked to explain why nothing has been done about claims of sexual abuse at a Catholic School for Maori boys.

National's Education spokeswoman Katherine Rich says the Ministry has known about the allegations at Hato Paora College in Feilding for some time.

However, it has failed to instruct the school's board on how to deal with the issue.

She says parents and students have been let down, and the board's decision to opt for an internal inquiry is not acceptable.
