Keep supernatural focus, Cardinal Bertone tells Argentine hierarchy

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, emphasized the centrality of prayer and interior life during a talk with the Catholic bishops of Argentina.

Cardinal Bertone, who had traveled to Argentina to preside at the November 11 beatification of Zeffirino Namuncura, spoke to the Argentine bishops during their regular annual meeting.

He asked the bishops to organize their work around the recognition that the mission of the Church is to "offer many the bread of salvation."

While applauding initiatives to promote justice and peace in society, the Italian prelate added that these should never assume the primary role in the pastoral work of the Church.

That primary place, he said, "must be reserved for God." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
