Who killed Jesus? Fury at online poll as Fox forced to apologise

The poll carried out by the Latin America division asked readers who was responsible for the death of Christ: There were three options: Pontius Pilate, The Jewish People or the High Priests. It is a severe blow to Jewish-Christian relations.

A Fox employee posted on a Facebook page promoting a network's Christmas special a poll on whether Jews killed Jesus Christ.

The poll, carried out by the Latin America division, asked readers who was responsible for the death of Christ: There were three options: Pontius Pilate, The Jewish People or the High Priests.

The answers, according to Mediate.com, were: 'A. Pontius Pilate, B. Jewish People, and C. High Priests.'

The Simon Weisenthal Center in Buenos Aires calls it a defamatory reference to Vatican propaganda that 'resulted in the persecution and murder of Jews for two millennia.'

The Jewish group says it's outraged that Fox would perpetuate an idea that the Vatican annulled back in 1965, the Jewish Chronicle reported.

Pope Benedict XVI exonerated the Jewish people for the death of Jesus Christ in his book, 'Jesus of Nazareth Part II,' released in March this year.

And in 'Jesus of Nazareth Part II" excerpts, Benedict explains why there is no basis for the argument that the Jewish people were responsible for Jesus' death.

Fox Spokeswoman Guadalupe Lucero apologized on behalf of National Geographic, saying the poll was removed immediately and measures have been taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
