Chicago Archdiocese to pay teen $1.2M

The Archdiocese of Chicago has agreed to pay $1.2 million to a teenage boy and his mother, who claim he was sexually abused by a former Catholic priest.

Attorney Ken Cunniff represents the boy and his mother.

He said Wednesday that Daniel McCormack, the former pastor of St. Agatha Catholic Church, allegedly made repeated advances toward the boy, then age 14.

Cunniff says the alleged incidents took place in the church rectory and school, where McCormack coached the boy in basketball.

McCormack pleaded guilty last year to abusing five children and is serving a five-year prison sentence. Cunniff says his client wasn't part of the criminal case.

The boy's younger brother received a $2.5 million settlement in September.
