Victory for Florida homeowners on trial over Christmas display in lawn

Image result for city of PlantationA judge has ruled in favor of a Florida couple whose city government took them to court after they refused to reduce the size of the Christmas display in their front lawn.

Broward Circuit Court Marina Garcia-Wood ruled that the city of Plantation failed to prove that the display, which includes 200,000 lights, constitutes a public nuisance.

City officials, who have spent over $420,000 on the case, contended that the display, in attracting visitors, creates traffic hazards; Mark and Kathy Hyatt cited their religious freedom and property rights.
