Pope Francis said
Wednesday that he was praying for the victims of this week's
plane crash in Colombia.
Only six of the 77 people on the plane,
which was carrying members of Brazil's Chapecoense team to the
Copa Sudamericana final, survived Monday's crash.
The pope
compared the disaster to the 1949 Superga that killed 22
members, including 18 players, belonging to the so-called great
Torino team.
"Today I'd like to remember the pain of the
Brazilian people for the tragedy of their local team," he said.
