As is customary on All Souls’ Day, Pope Francis made an evening visit
to the Vatican Grottoes to pray privately for the repose of the souls
of his predecessors and all the departed.Located beneath St. Peter’s Basilica, the Grottoes are the site of the tombs of various popes, prelates, and monarchs.
