To discourage abortion, Poland to offer bonus for parents of disabled babies

Image result for poland flagPoland’s parliament has approved a proposal by the government to provide bonuses for the parents of disabled children, as a means of discouraging abortions.

Beginning next year, the government will issue a one-time payment of 4,000 zlotys ($1,000) to the family of a child born disabled or with a life-threatening disease. 

The proposal—approved by a convincing vote of 267- 140—was billed as a “first step” toward support for families with disabled children.
