Father Lombardi named assistant to Jesuit superior general

Father Arturo Sosa, the new superior general of the Society of Jesus, has named nine assistants to aid him in the governance of the Church’s largest male religious community.

Among the nine are Father Federico Lombardi, the recently retired director of the Holy See Press Office, and an American, Father Douglas Marcouiller, from the Jesuits’ Missouri province.
