The damage that the war has caused Colombian children continue to affect
their lives.
Anxiety and depression, behavioral, social, attention and
concentration problems are among the most common.

during the VI International Congress of Pedagogy and Childhood: Building
Peace starting from Early Childhood, in La Sabana, Colombian town of
Chia.
The armed conflict has left 2 and a half million children victims,
according to figures of the Victims Unit published in a study of the
University of La Sabana.
The Congress, according to information gathered
by Fides, addressed the trauma suffered by children, the study of
different institutions show the seriousness of violence against children
in connection with the conflict.
"Paranoia, fear of washing themselves
or getting dressed, violent games, incontinence, insomnia, nightmares,
apathy and aggression, are the main problems that children who have
suffered violence have", indicates one of the studies.
Among the areas of the country most affected by the war, the northern
people of the region have historically been the most affected by the
guerrilla attacks.
In the two departments of El Valle and Cauca more
than 170,000 victims among children have been registered, mainly for
kidnappings, terrorist attacks, sexual abuse or recruitment.
