The following is in fact a letter sent to a newspaper based here in Ireland and in light of a recent posting here in relation to Il Papa becoming something of a fashionista, I feel this really says it all....comments welcome of course!!
It's a bit rich, I'd have thought, for the Vatican to urge women to stop acting like men, given the way that Church potentates ponce about St Peter's in bright fuchsias, purples and crimsons.
I bet the cardinals, monsignors and bishops spend far more on their satin floor-length gowns with their pure-silk sashes and their little cloche hats than even wealthy women do on their designer dresses. Perhaps it's time the upper echelons of the hierarchy stopped behaving like medieval princes and more like 21st. century men.
Anyway, from where I am standing, what with all the breast enhancing surgery and revealing clothes, I'd have thought that the modern trend is for women to do anything but 'minimise the difference between the sexes.'
