Councillors Call For End To Political Church Gate Collections

Clare County Councillors are calling for political parties to end the practice of raising funds at church gate collections.

Local representatives have passed a motion in which they've urged political parties not to tackle mass-goers as they collect money - the motion will now be forwarded to the general secretaries of each political party.

The idea has received broad support amongst Councillors, but one has raised concern that it sees politics demonised.
