Bell tower collapses in Philippines

http://www.cathnews.com/images/thumbs/21101belltowercollapse_15807artthumb.jpgIncredible footage has caught the moment when the Philippines’ oldest church collapsed after the nation was hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake last week, reports ninemsn.

At least 156 people have been killed in the quake that was one of the worst in the nation's history.

Churches and older buildings have been reduced to rubble and residents are reported to be sleeping outside for fear their homes could collapse.

The collapse of many old churches has been particularly painful in a country that is 80 percent Roman Catholic.
