In the face of rising migration, the Secretary of the Iraq’s
Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked the government to up security
for minorities.
The general secretary of Iraq’s Conference of
Catholic Bishops, Mgr. Louis Sako, has urged Christians to stay in the
country, speaking out against the progressive depletion of the Christian
community in these years of war and persecution. “It is sad to see that this migration continues to weaken and threaten Christian presence in Iraq,” Mgr. Sako said in an interview with Alsumaria News.
The prelate has asked the Iraqi government “to take on the responsibility of providing security, stability and dignity to all groups that live in our society.”
