The British Humanist Association (BHA) has lost its legal challenge to
plans for two new Catholic schools in Richmond, south west London.
The
organisation, together with a group of local parents opposed to the
scheme - which has been put forward by the Archdiocese of Westminster -
claimed Richmond Council had broken the law by approving the opening of
schools that can prioritise Catholic children.
Their application for a
judicial review of the council's decision has been rejected by a High
Court judge.
The BHA has said it will now consider whether to appeal the
decision.
