A 41-year-old Madison man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a Catholic nun on Tuesday morning, according to Madison police.
The woman was later released.
The suspect, identified as Larome B. Kingcade, 41, is being held on tentative charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary, battery, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation, WISC-TV reported.
The nun told authorities that a man came in through a window of a home associated with St. Joseph Catholic Church about 8:20 a.m.
According to police, she said the man, who was allegedly armed with a weapon, pushed her and demanded money.
She told him she didn't have any, but the man forced her to drive him around in her car, police said.
"She's driving this guy around; he's continuing to demand money. She keeps telling him, 'I'm a nun. I don't have any access to funds.'
Eventually, he just says, 'Drive me to this location,' which happened to be Taft Street, where he got out of the car and she drove away," said Joel DeSpain, public information officer for the Madison Police Department.
The nun then went to the St. James Catholic School and called police, the television station reported.
Based on a police description, Taft Street-area residents helped authorities in an arrest, police said.
