Catholic School Principal May Lose Job

A Catholic school principal who has accused the Archdiocese of Chicago of unfairly trying to make her a scapegoat for its poor handling of a sexual abuse allegations says she thinks she may soon lose her post.

Barbara Westrick recently sent a letter to the parents of all students at Our Lady of the Westside School, telling them the current pastor of the local parish is stalling about renewing her contract. She says that is something normally done by March First.

Today was the last day of classes at the school, and Westrick said she still had heard nothing.

Westrick says she thinks she is being punished for speaking out about archdiocese's handling of allegations against the former pastor, the Reverend Daniel McCormack, who is charged with criminal sexual abuse.

The archdiocese was not immediately available for comment today.
