American Idol celebrity Simon Cowell has teamed up with the Vatican in a $10 million deal for the next Pope to be elected by a TV audience.
The new show, provisionally named "Reach For Heaven" will begin auditions next spring at Catholic Churches throughout the world.
Together with Cowell the other judges are expected to include incumbent Pope Benedict XVI, Ozzie Osbourne and people's princess Jade Goody.
The final vote will be decided by viewers calling in to a premium rate phone number.
Music and talent show guru Simon Cowell, who expects the show to be a blockbuster, has stated that Piers Morgan would not be taking part due to "Difficulty getting his head through the studio door".
