Conservation work begins on west Donegal church ruins

Conservation and repair works got underway this week on the ruins of the church in the old graveyard at Machaire Gathlán. 

Earlier this year, Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair Teo secured €70,935 from the Community Monuments Fund for the project.

Parishioners and visitors are being asked to keep clear of the scaffolding and the church walls while the work is under way. 

“The masonry is fragile, and the work area is hazardous,” according to a statement on the Paróiste Ghaoth Dobhair Facebook page.
