Council meeting hears Dingle priest had to pause mass to apologise for noise from Other Voices concert

A recent Kerry County Council meeting has heard a priest in Dingle had to pause mass during the Other Voices festival to apologise for noise from a nearby concert.

Sinn Féin councillor Robert Brosnan raised the issue at the meeting, adding people also had complaints about the amount of car parking space given over to the festival.

Other Voices has told Radio Kerry it apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Other Voices took place in Dingle from 28th to 30th November this year, with performances from Michael D Higgins, Amble, and Dermot Kennedy among others.

At the recent Kerry County Council meeting, Sinn Féin councillor Robert Brosnan said the car park at Green Street had been given to Other Voices.

He said a priest in the town also had to stop during mass and apologise for the amount of sound from a nearby concert.

Cllr Brosnan said a lot of people were dissatisfied with that, and that there was no place to park for locals.

He said Other Voices is absolutely brilliant for the town, but perhaps the local authority could look at where the festival sets up and puts its stages.

In a statement to Radio Kerry, Other Voices said they sincerely apologise for any inconvenience, and they are very happy to speak directly to Cllr Brosnan with regard to the issues.
