Priest accused of sexually harassing minors in Thessaloniki

A priest in a village near Thessaloniki, northern Greece, has been accused of sexually harassing five boys, with police filing a case against him for insulting sexual dignity, authorities said on Wednesday.

Police said the alleged incidents took place in August.

The 47-year-old priest allegedly pretended to be in physical pain and, “taking advantage of the minors’ good intentions, proceeded through gestures and words to acts that violated their sexual dignity.”

The boys, aged 12 to 15, reported the incidents to local police, saying they occurred either in a café or in a house.

A search of the suspect’s home led to the seizure of mobile phones and electronic devices, which were sent for forensic examination.

The case file will be submitted to the Thessaloniki prosecutor.
