Pope Leo XIV reveals: This is how I recover in Castel Gandolfo

Pope Leo XIV has revealed for the first time what he does when he spends his days off at his second residence in the Alban Hills near Rome.

On Tuesday evening, shortly before his return journey to Rome, he said in Castel Gandolfo when asked by journalists about his activities on his weekly day off: "A little sport, a little reading, a little work."

He explained that there was "correspondence, phone calls and important, urgent questions every day".

As for sport, he explained that he plays tennis at Castel Gandolfo and goes swimming.

The Pope explained the reason for the weekly break: "Everyone must take good care of themselves, everyone should do something for body and mind. (...) It's good for me." Tuesday in Castel Gandolfo was a "very helpful break".
