According to the Swiss internet platform swissinfo.ch, the archbishop revealed this information on Wednesday in a letter that he passed on to the media.
Coadjutor Archbishop Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, who was sworn into office on Monday, will take over the administration of the diocese in the Dominican Republic.
In his letter, Ozoria expresses his surprise.
Although the 73-year-old himself had applied to the Apostolic Nunciature for a coadjutor archbishop, he had only done so in order to prepare his successor for the office in the last two years before his retirement.
"My surprise is that the appointed coadjutor archbishop has special powers exclusively for the administration of diocesan assets, for economic and financial matters and for the management of the clergy and church personnel," the bishop writes. "They only left me the title of Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo."
"I was never admonished or warned"
The archbishop wrote that he had been suspended "for mismanagement" in accordance with the apostolic letter. This accusation was new to him: "I was never admonished or warned."
Only the Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, Cardinal Marc Ouellet, is said to have once spoken of "some accusations" against him during a courtesy visit. Ozoria was not aware of any wrongdoing.
Nevertheless, he accepts the decision of the Vatican authorities.
A coadjutor archbishop is a bishop appointed by the Pope who is placed at the side of an incumbent archbishop and has the right to succeed him.
He supports him in the diocesan leadership, deputises for him in his absence and immediately takes over the leadership of the diocese after his resignation or death.
