A kidnapped French missionary priest who assisted Nigerian refugees
in Cameroon has been released following six weeks in captivity, Agence
France-Presse reported.
Boko Haram, the Islamist terrorist organization based in Nigeria, had
claimed responsibility for the abduction of Father Georges Vandenbeusch.
Cameroon’s Council of Imams, Mosques, and Islamic Affairs (COCIMAI) had
joined the nation’s bishops in calling for the priest’s release,
according to the Fides news service.
