Archbishop Paul Gallagher is to be the new Papal
Nuncio to Australia, the Vatican has announced. The British-born
archbishop,58, is currently the Nuncio to Guatemala in central America.Vatican Insider reports that he is the only English-born nuncio in the active diplomatic service of the Holy See.
Since being ordained as a priest in 1977, he has served in Tanzania, Uruguay, the Philippines, the Vatican, Strasbroug and Burundi, before his current role in Guatemala.
