Reform movement "We are the Church" invited to the Vatican for the first time

Representatives of the reform movement "We are Church" will officially participate in a meeting in the Vatican. 

As the group announced on Monday, this is the first time that they are travelling to Rome at the invitation of the Vatican. 

"At the meeting 'Synodal Teams and Participatory Committees of the World Synod' from 24 to 26 October at the invitation of Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary of the World Synod. 

Eight delegates of We are Church International will also be attending in October 2025, a first, a novelty," the statement says. 

In these days, another meeting with Pope Leo XIV was planned.

Participation refers to one of the themed events in the context of the Holy Year 2025. 

An audience with Pope Leo XIV is planned for Friday. On Saturday, rounds of talks, network meetings and the pilgrimage through the Holy Door will take place. 

The end will be a divine service in St. Peter's Basilica on Sunday.

"We are church" is an association that urges changes in the Catholic Church. 

It has been in existence at international level since 1996. 

In now around 30 countries, members of the group are committed to more equality, a new sexual morality and greater participation of lay people in the church.
