Pope Francis Returns to the Father.
With deep sorrow, the Church mourns the passing of Pope Francis.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell announced his death this morning at 7:35 AM at Casa Santa Marta.
A shepherd to the end, Pope Francis dedicated his life to the Gospel, standing with the poor and the marginalized, and guiding the Church with humility and courage.
He had battled ongoing respiratory issues and was hospitalized in February with bilateral pneumonia. After 38 days, he returned to the Vatican but passed away peacefully.
His funeral will follow the new rites he himself approved in 2024 — simpler, focused on faith in the Risen Christ, and reflecting the heart of a true disciple.
