The sisters' spokesperson confirmed to katholisch.de on Tuesday that Bishop Rafael Cloquell is now administering the sacraments to the ex-nuns. Cloquell had spoken in the cloister of the the women's new restaurant already presided over the first mass.
"These priests and bishops are only here temporarily," said the spokesperson: "They help the nuns with the daily masses, are a kind of guest and work together with the nuns in their religious activities."
According to the community spokesperson, Cloquell is "temporarily" replacing Bishop Rodrigo Henrique Ribeiro da Silva who was temporarily living in the monastery in Belorado.
Like Da Silva, Cloquell also traces his line of ordination back to the long-excommunicated and sedisvacantist Archbishop Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục whose episcopal consecrations are not considered valid by the Catholic Church.
Cloquell was consecrated bishop in Karlsruhe in 1996 by the former Czech underground priest and ex-Jesuit Oliver Oravec; his co-consecrator was the US-American John E. Hesson, who was also consecrated by Oravec.
Before returning to Spain, Cloquell is said to have lived in Filderstadt near Stuttgart, where he led a traditionalist community. On enquiry, the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart stated that nothing was known about this.
The conflict surrounding the Poor Clares of Belorado has continued to escalate in recent months.
In May, the sisters published a manifesto in which they distanced themselves from the Catholic Church and declared that they would not recognise any popes after Pius XII.
In the course of the conflict, they joined various alleged schismatic bishops. Before da Silva, Pablo de Rojas worked in the monastery, who came from the from the schismatic Palmarian Catholic Church Catholic Church.
All attempts at conciliation by the Archbishop of Burgos, Mario Iceta, appointed by the Pope as commissioner, failed: the sisters were excommunicated due to their schism and no rapprochement took place later either.
In addition to the schismatic ex-nuns who did not move to the restaurant, there are five elderly sisters in need of care in the convent who did not join the schism.
