Archbishop Hugo Barrantes Ureña of San José has affirmed the Costa
Rican Church's advice for parents to stop their children from attending
sex education classes.
Parents should "see the evil" in the classes,
because their approach is "profoundly hedonist", the archbishop said,
and they fail to provide "an integral vision of sexuality".
The Constitutional Court has ruled that attending the classes is at
the discretion of parents following an outcry from Catholics and
Evangelicals about the content of the programme, which is due to begin
in March 2013.
