Church Urban Fund is encouraging people to 'give a day back' during this leap year.
The Church of England charity is inviting people to use all or part of the extra day to volunteer at one of its supported projects.
The charity works with more than 300 projects across England aimed at alleviating poverty and improving the prospects of vulnerable groups.
These include projects with destitute asylum seekers and refugees, centres for drug addicts and the homeless, and breakfast clubs or drop-in centres for children and families living in poverty.
CUF hopes that people will be inspired to keep giving a day back throughout the year.
The Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, the Rt Rev John Packer, will be doing his bit by visiting the London-based homelessness project, Streetlytes.
