The Pontifical Council for Culture welcomes the arrival of a number of new musicians, philosophers and architects. Fr. Spadaro, director of the Jesuit magazine “Civiltà Cattolica” has been appointed adviser to the Vatican dicastery
Musician Arvo Part, architect Santiago Calatrava and philosopher Jean-Luc Marion are just some of the individuals whom the Pope has decided to appoint to the Pontifical Council of Culture.
In particular, the Estonian composer Part and philosopher Marion were appointed as members of the Pontifical Council of Culture, along with various prelates, including the Archbishop of Kinshasa, Monsengwo Pasinya; the Archbishop of Washington William Wuerl; Mgr. Rino Fisichella and the Archbishop of Florence, Mgr. Giuseppe Betori.
Spanish architect Calatrava was nominated adviser to the Vatican Dicastery, together with Antonio Spadaro, Director of Italian Jesuit magazine “Civiltà Cattolica”, amongst others.
Finally, Benedict XVI nominated Mgr. Edward Robinson Wijesinghe of the Diocese of Colombo, as Head of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerants.
