Digital Story of the Nativity smashes 10 million views mark on YouTube

An exemplary use of social media to convey the gospel of the nativity.

The near three minute clip imagines how social media, web and mobile would illustrate a contemporary birth of Jesus on the theme, ‘Times change, the feeling remains the same'

The Mirror reports : Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Wikipedia, Google Maps, GMail, Foursquare and Amazon all feature in the Christmas story – with the success of the viral showing ironic parallels to the spread of Christianity.

Receiving a text from the Archangel Gabriel to let her know she is “going to give birth to the Son of God”, Mary looks up the Holy Spirit on Wikipedia before signing into her GMail account where she breaks it to joseph.carpenter07@gmail.com that they “need to talk”.

Well, at least she held off telling him her news over email.

Mary then looks up the best route to get to Bethlehem from Nazareth via Google Maps – taking care to tick the box to ‘Avoid Romans’.
