New Louth book tells the 100-year story of St Peter’s Church Dromiskin

As part of the celebrations to mark the centenary of St Peter’s Church Dromiskin, a book has been launched which tells the story of the church and the parish over the past hundred years.

The author is Pat Mulligan, former Principal of St Peter’s School.

Pat’s family connections with Dromiskin and Darver go back generations and the book is testimony to the extraordinary commitment by the people of Darver/Dromiskin parish to the building of this magnificent church and the story of the clergy and laity who served the parish over the past century.

The book was launched in St Peter’s School Dromiskin with a presentation by the author.

He outlined the main points of the story: the crusade led by Canon Peter Johnson in 1922 to build a new church in Dromiskin, the parish priests and curates who served in the parish over the past hundred years, religious figures from Darver/Dromiskin over the past hundred years, and the local people who carried out important duties essential for the smooth running of the parish.

There are also several chapters headed: Reeling in the Years, which recall local events over the century as well as national and international milestones.

The book was printed and produced by Priority Print, Dundalk, and at the launch Pat thanked them for their excellent work.
