The Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) expressed its sorrow this Wednesday, October 28, over the serious train accident that occurred in the morning in Urda (Toledo), conveying its condolences to the families of the deceased and its closeness to all those affected.
In a statement, the Spanish bishops assured their prayers for the eternal rest of the victims and for the prompt recovery of the injured, while inviting Christian communities to join in prayer in the face of this tragedy.
Episcopal Conference calls for prayers for the deceased and their families
The CEE has expressed its closeness to those who have lost loved ones and has asked that the victims of the accident be present in the prayers of Christian communities.
The bishops have entrusted the deceased and their families to the intercession of the Virgin Mary, invoked as “Comforter of the afflicted and Queen of peace,” so that the Lord may grant the gift of eternal life to those who have died and sustain with hope those who suffer the consequences of the accident.
The Spanish episcopate has thus sought to accompany the affected families spiritually, recalling the importance of prayer and Christian closeness in times of sorrow.
Prayers for the injured and emergency teams
The Episcopal Conference also had words for those involved in emergency and assistance efforts following the train accident.
In its statement, the bishops entrust those working at the scene, the medical personnel attending to the injured, and those responsible for accompanying the victims’ families.
The CEE has reiterated its solidarity with the suffering of all those affected and has asked that Christian community celebrations include prayers for the victims, their families, and those working to address the consequences of this tragedy.
