An Post 'Christmas' Stamps 2025

An Post, Irelands postal service, has deigned to issue what it terms Christmas stamps, which will be available to the public as and from 30th October 2025.

On first glance, it seems that whoever was lucky enough to get their first geometry set as a Christmas present last year has certainly hit the jackpot with these designs.

The following blurb is from An Post themselves, and we quote,

'An Post issues special Christmas stamps every year. Just as Christmas is unique and special each time it comes around, so are our festive stamps.

This year's offering honours both the religious and the secular aspects of Christmas. The celebration is fundamental to the Christian faith, celebrating the birth of Jesus. It is also a time for everyone to come together, lighting up the dark days of midwinter with the bright spirit of celebration and joyful traditions.

With clean geometric designs enlivened with festive gold, our vibrant stamps for Christmas 2025 feature a welcoming church, an angel, the three wise men with the infant Jesus, and a Christmas tree, Christmas pudding and Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. Seen together, they conjure up the pleasure that accompanies the season each year.

We're sure you will enjoy our Christmas stamps as much as we do - and with them, we'll be wishing you all good things for the close of 2025 and bright new beginnings for 2026.' (unquote)

Well now, the questions just come hopping at us in relation to this, and one of them is what grade snow was being availed of when that blurb was being put together?

And indeed, what quantity was required so as to ensure that the description of the 'stamps' matches the depictions because it sure would take a fair amount to even get anything close to an idea of these 'stamps' being anything associated with Christmas.

Also, as Christmas is a religious festival - how is it secular?

Would An Post dare to allow the same be said / published of Ramaddan if they issued a stamp for that religious festival?

It seems that these 'stamps' were 'designed by a crowd called UNTHINK, and we can only but agree with such, as it is evident that there was no thinking whatsover done in relation to these 'stamps' - but no doubt the money paid out for such was certainly well drawn (down) - probably faster than the 'stamps' themselves.

As a Christmas present for your loved ones this year, get them a geometry set and who knows for next years Christmas 'stamps' eh...you might just get lucky.

Or perhaps the easy-doodle maker drawing set for 2 year olds is the way to go....considering such 'uniqueness' of An Post's 'turkey' stamp offerings over the last few years.
