Province of St. Nicholas of Tolentino (OAD Asia) said this week that Fr. Libby Danos, OAD, has been temporarily suspended from public ministry “to allow for proper discernment and resolution of this matter.
OAD Asia said “Fr. Danos has expressed deep remorse for his actions and is cooperating fully with the canonical investigation that has been initiated according to Church law and the OAD constitutions.”
“The Catholic Church has maintained for centuries that Freemasonry is fundamentally incompatible with Catholic doctrine,” it declared.
“As recently as November 2023, the Holy See’s Dicastry for the Doctrine of the Faith, with the approval of His Holiness Pope Francis, reaffirmed that Catholics are strictly forbidden from joining Masonic associations because their principles remain ‘irreconcilable with the doctrine of the Church’,” the organization added.
The OAD stated “we recognize our responsibility to be exemplary witnesses of Catholic faith.”
“When our actions fall short of this standard, we must respond with both justice and mercy, seeking truth while estending the compassion that Christ himself showed to those who erred,” it said.
