'One priest to cover three parishes,' during busy weekend on Tipperary/Laois border

Parishioners in Borris-in-Ossory, Camross and Castletown were advised last weekend to take note of changes to the weekend Mass schedule, with further evidence of priest shortages across the country impacting on Masses.

Last weekend there was "only one priest on duty across the three parishes" on Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7.

This meant there was just one Mass in each of the main churches, while no Masses were celebrated in the smaller churches.

The reduced schedule highlights the continuing strain on parish resources, with services having to be adjusted to meet the reality of fewer priests available.
