The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Klaus Krämer of the clergy of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, until now chancellor and delegate of the diocesan administrator, as bishop of the same diocese.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Klaus Krämer was born on 14 January 1964 in Stuttgart. He studied law in Augsburg and München, and theology in Freiburg im Breisgau, and obtained a diploma in theological studies in Tübingen.
He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart on 19 June 1993.
After ordination, he first held the roles of deputy parish priest in Rottweil (1993-1994) and special secretary to the diocesan bishop (1994-1997).
He was awarded a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Universität Freiburg (1997-2000), and went on to serve as canon of the Cathedral Chapter (since 1999), episcopal vicar for the formation of pastoral workers (2004-2008), president of Missio Aachen and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Germany (2008-2019), and president of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood in Germany (2010-2019).
In 2015 he was appointed honorary professor of dogmatic theology and missiology at the High Philosophical-Theological School of Vallendar. To date he has served as chancellor of the diocese and delegate of the diocesan administrator.
