Police and security officers in Russia's Sverdlovsk Region conducted
searches at the offices of the Church of Scientology, a religious,
nonprofit organization, on Belinsky Street in the city of Yekaterinburg.
The searches were conducted on February 1 as part of a police inquiry
into "illegal entrepreneurship," the regional police spokesperson said.
The police found that the organization's main activity was to provide training sessions and seminars for a fee.
"The organization was doing so without a license for the provision of
educational activities," regional police official Valery Gorelykh said
in a statement.
According to preliminary data available to the police, the organization's earnings amounted to tens of millions of rubles.
