If she becomes the President of France, Marine Le Pen will reconnect
official diplomatic relations with Assad’s Syria and will reopen the
French embassy in Damascus.
On the occasion of her 48-hour visit in the
Country of Cedars, the candidate for the Elysee, National Front leader
has confirmed her programmatic intentions regarding the Syrian dossier
in interviews to the Lebanese press.
During her brief trip to Lebanon,
Marine Le Pen has already been received by President Michel Aoun in the
Presidential Palace in Babda.
The agenda of the short trip also includes
meetings with Maronite Patriarch Boutros Bechara Rai, with Lebanese
Premier Saad Hariri and politician Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese
Forces.
In the meeting with President Aoun - refers the Lebanese media - Marine
Le Pen said she referred to the struggle against Islamic fundamentalism
as a context for collaboration between Lebanon and France, and
highlighted the need for more decisive international support that helps
institutions and the Lebanese population to cope with the emergency of
refugees from Syria and Iraq.
